DISCOVERY IN SPACE

INT POD BAY

BOWMAN: Prepare B-5 3-B-A, Hal.

BOWMAN: Open the Pod door, Hal.

Bowman enters the Pod, bringing the replacement component with him.

Poole, also in a space suit minus the helmet, is seated in Flight Control. A video screen shows Bowman in the Pod Bay.

Small meteors are seen tumbling aimlessly through space.

The centre Pod rotates to face the Pod Bay doors. The exterior Pod Bay doors slide open.

EXT DISCOVERY: An automated ramp slowly edges out the Pod into launch position.

INT POD: Aero view of Bowman at the cockpit controls.

EXT POD: Bowman maneuvers the Pod carefully off the launch ramp and upwards over Discovery's spherical hull.

The target is in sight, Bowman heads for the antenna.

Poole continues monitoring the operation's progress.
