Lab: Ripley is sitting on a table as Gediman examines her, studies her eyes. Wren enters to check on her status. Gediman reports she is in extraordinary good health.
Her chest scar tissue is in advanced recession. Wren goes up to Ripley, studies her face with satisfaction, gloating over their accomplishment.
Suddenly, Ripley breaks free of her bond and grabs his throat with dazzling speed, applying deadly pressure.
Her eyes are fierce, but lost. Gediman is as wide eyed as Wren, and he isn't having his windpipe crushed. A guard rushes in, levels his weapon at Ripley and fires his rifle at her.
A powerful electrical charge lashes out and sends her flying to the floor. Wren crumples to the floor gasping. The guards keep their weapons, or 'burners', these shockrifles are called, leveled at Ripley. She has recovered from the shock quickly, lying there, looking at nothing in particular.
Observation Room One: Wren and Gediman watch on a video monitor as a scientist tests Ripley. With them is General Perez, the military figure in charge of the operation Ramrod straight and about as gruff as you would expect, he stares at Ripley suspiciously, he is angered by the Ripley clone experiment.
The scientist is holding up cards with pictures on them: glove, cherries, etc. Ripley gives answers, looking pissed off and bored.
The Ripley clone has matured at an unprecedented rate and exhibits a frightening predatory physical power.
She seems to share DNA with the alien creatures, explaining her unusual strength, and her blood is also slightly acidic. The ship's doctors go through exercises with her regarding language and learning, and she responds positively.
Perez looks at Ripley, then exits into the hall. The scientist shows Ripley a card of a young girl, this captures her full attention.
Recalling distant memories, her face breaks into a fond smile, then turning to a look of sadness.
Hall: The two scientists follow Perez, pacing him as he strides down towards a second observation room. Perez is disturbed that the Ripley clone has memories and is considering her termination to prevent her from wiping out the alien species . . . again. Perez punches in a code on the access interface and 'exhales' into a security device that identifies his clearance, the second observation room door opens. He steps in, the other two right behind him.
Observation Room Two: Darker than the first one, apart from that, identical. Perez turns to the others and grants them to keep the Ripley clone alive under strict security.
Perez is interested only in the alien queen, which has also grown at a terrifying rate; it is now almost full size. Wren reports that it's only days before the alien queen starts producing, but they need the 'cargo.'
Perez assures them that the cargo is on its way. As he speaks, the alien comes into view, it's big, the ridges on its head indicate a young queen, it hisses.
Mess Hall: Ripley sits across from Gediman. He is eating at a good pace - Ripley, however, has stopped.
She is staring at her fork, her brows furrowed. Turns it over in her hand, in her mind.
Gediman comments, "fork." She replies, "fuck." He corrects her. She reveals a startling flash of her former self; it seems as if the clone has retained some of Ripley's memories and personality traits.
It is almost as if the woman herself has been recreated and is slowly awakening.
Ripley has a fragmented conversation with Gediman. "How did you...?" she asks.
Gediman tells her how they painstaking recreated her, and she intuitively guesses that they wanted the alien. She warns him that he and everyone in the company will die.
Gediman is at a loss what 'company' means when Wren enters to explain about Weyland Yutani, Ripley's former employers. Terran Growth conglomerate, they had defense contracts under the military. Before Gediman's time, they went under decades ago, bought out by Walmart. Fortunes of war.
Wren boasts to Ripley that unlike the Weyland company, they have the situation under control and making great progress with exploiting the alien race for it's resources - new alloys and vaccines. Even in her dazed condition, she is cynical and tells them that they can't control it.
Space: We see the Auriga in the distance. Suddenly a ship roars into frame, heading for it. A small vessel, it is every bit dirty and jerry-rigged as the Auriga is pristine. Called the Betty, it's an unregistered ragtag commercial freighter carrying a standing crew of six.
Inside the cockpit piloting the ship toward the Auriga is Hillard, a roughskinned woman and next to her sits Elgyn, the leader of the group. He has the kind of authority that doesn't need to flaunt itself. He speaks into the vidcom good naturedly giving his authorization code of E - A - T - M - E.
Elgyn switches off and gets up from his seat. He instructs Hillard to bring them in on a three-oh descent, ride the parallel. He runs his hand up along her cheek. They're more than friends.
As he exits, he tells her to not cut thrust till six hundred meters, give them a little scare. On the intercom, he calls to crew members to get ready to dock.
